In Recipes for Murder, author Karen Pierce has curated “66 dishes that celebrate the mysteries of Agatha Christie.” Pierce has broken each dish by decade, ranging from the 1920s to the 1970s. Each dish has a brief history as well as which Christie book it was either named in, referred to, or would be appropriate in that time period. At the end of the book are themed menus so you can plan the perfect Halloween murder mystery party or Christie-themed Christmas. The range of dishes varies from the perfect cup of coffee to Oysters Rockefeller and Derby Day Strawberries and Cream.
The recipes are easy to follow and not terribly complicated. I made Old English Seed Cake, which definitely seems like an acquired taste, and the Gingerbread Loaf. I wasn’t able to find certain ingredients for other recipes in my small town, so I will definitely have to look on Amazon to complete a few dishes. My one suggestion would be to have this book spiral bound instead, as it’s hard to keep the book open to follow the recipes. Overall, food lovers and Christie fans will both appreciate this book and the time that was put into it.
